War Attacks

  1. Don't overestimate your ability, go a bit lower if necessary but not so low that lower team members can not attack anything.
  2. Your aim is to get three stars, don't attack base with existing star(s) unless there is no alternative.
  3. Use your best troops and both attacks if you can.
  4. If there has been an unsuccessful attack, study the replay to learn of possible weaknesses.
  5. Until you have TH7 or better and are able to do a dragon attack or equivalent you MUST draw out the cc troops first and eliminate them (with archers probably). 
  6. Study the base carefully to decide on a strategy and where to drop your troops and in what sequence. 
  7. It is better to go with an all air attack or all ground attack to avoid half the defences.
  8. If you are unable to participate in a war e.g. on holiday, you can exclude yourself by the CLAN WARS option in your profile settings.
Looting
Do not attack a base which you know you cannot 3 star just to maximise your loot unless given permission.
This is a kickable action.

    Balloons attack strategy (One Air Defence)


    Train 
    Example TH6, modify to suit your capacity / availability
    35 archer
    23 balloons
    2 heal spells

    For TH5 try 35 archers and 20 balloons

    Operation: 

    1. Lure ALL the clan troops, if they have 11 archers and 1 or 2 wiz you may have to drop several troops within range before they all pop out, if the cc is right in the centre you can drop a balloon to pull the cc troops.
    2. Kill the clan troops with your archers.
    3. Drop balloons (not the clan balloons, your balloons) towards all defences that need to die to clear a path towards the opponents AD. Drop 7 or so of them in streams towards any defence that stands in the way of the clan balloons having a path towards the AD. Then as those balloons are in the air, just drop the clan balloons straight towards the AD.
    4. Drop the remaining balloons directly towards the  wizard or archer towers.
    Try hard to avoid getting all the balloons in one bunch, you want 2 groups of balloons at least for the clean up phase.
    5. Drop heals as needed, probably while the AD is still active and you can cover the streams and the L6 balloons at once. You want to keep the L6 balloons alive, drop the heal on and ahead of the balloons, covering as many defences as possible so the balloons can be healed for as long as possible.
    6. Once defences are down drop remaining archers/wizards to clear up, not forgetting outlying buildings if any.

    AD = Air Defence

    Balloons attack strategy (Two Air Defences)

    This basically the same as the previous but removing the 2nd AD with lightning spells.

    Request L6 balloons


    Attack

    Drop lightning spells to take out the deepest AD.
    Pull CC troops with giant, lure them to corner with minion/archer.
    Drop dragons in corner to kill their cc troops.
    Deploy all your balloons in a line round two sides of their base.
    Drop your cc balloons to line up with remaining AD.
    Use minions/archers to target remote buildings and/or sweep behind balloons.
    Drop barbarian king to clean up edges, out of range of any defences.






    TH4 Hog/Balloon Strategy

    3 barbarians
    32 archers
    9 balloons

    Request
    Highest possible hog riders

    Operation: 

    1. Lure ALL the clan troops with barbarians
    2. Kill the clan troops with your archers.
    3.Drop the hogs towards the AD.
    4. When AD is destroyed drop the balloons directly towards the archer towers.
    5. Drop archers when the defences have been eliminated to clear up, not forgetting outlying buildings if any.


    N.B. As you only have three hogs watch out for spring traps which might be in the path to the AD.

    Dragon notes (ongoing)


    1. Your aim is to take out the AD's as soon as possible.

    1. Channelling (this is the key) To get the bulk of your dragons towards the AD you need to remove the side buildings first, if left untouched the dragons will wander off course and leave themselves vulnerable to the AD. You can do this by dropping one or two dragons each side of the intended path and waiting until they have destroyed some buildings, then drop the bulk of your dragons and your CC dragon/balloons towards the AD(s).

    1. Don't drop all dragons in one place, it makes them vulnerable to splash attacks
    2. Spells
      1. You can remove the deepest AD with 3 lightning spells.
      2. Drop rages on and ahead of the advancing dragons to get them to the centre faster.
    3. If one of the AD's is near the edge you might be able to remove it with your king.

    War Base Defence

    Good defence is as important as a good attack.
    Search online for effective base layouts e.g. 'best th6 coc war base'

    Train

    1. Check for CC troops
    2. Draw out and eliminate those troops
    3. Test for traps near AD
    4. Use wall breakers if necessary to clear a path to AD (TIMING essential)
    5. Drop Giants near AD
    6. Once AD destroyed drop healer(s)
    7. Try to position healer so it will not come into range of an archer tower or wizard tower.
    8. Support rear of healer with archers BUT don't compromise healing of Giants by getting too close and confusing healer.
    9. Once defences are down drop wizards/archers to clear up.
